Opening of the Watercube

The formal ceremony for the opening of the watercube was held inside the venue and marks the completion of this magnificent piece of architecture and engineering.

John Bilmon, PTW Architects Project Director for the Watercube – Beijing’s National Aquatic Centre - was delighted to be in attendance at the formal opening on Monday 28th January 2008, together with our engineering partner, ARUP. PTW together with ARUP, are delighted to join their Chinese partners, CCDI, in participating in this auspicious occasion.

The Watercube has already received international attention and will continue to do so over coming months. This fantastic result has been achieved due to the involvement of various professionals from different locations and disciplines; the outcome of an interactive creative process which has provided a rich experience.
