The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) announced today that Make Architects with PTW Architects of Sydney, and Ove Arup and Partners have been appointed to design the Handball Arena.
During the Games the Handball Arena will host Olympic Handball and Paralympic Goalball. In legacy the Arena will be transformed into a new venue with the flexible seating capacity and facilities necessary to hold a wide range of indoor sports training and local to international competitions.
From a ten strong shortlist the ODA has appointed a multi-disciplinary design team for the 12,000 capacity Basketball Arena, made up of Sinclair Knight Merz, of Australia; Nussli International; Wilkinson Eyre; and KSS Design Group. The 12,000 capacity Basketball Arena will host the Basketball preliminaries competition, and the Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby competitions.
Contemporary International Inc and its Australian partner TFG International P/L of Sydney have a contract with the London 2012 Olympic Development Authority to provide a wide range of consultancy services. In addition, TFG International P/L has a long term contract with the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sport to advise it on London 2012 matters.
